Hi, I’m Matthias. I build mobile products. AI-native.

15 years in tech, 12 of them building mobile and enterprise software for leading companies in healthcare, fintech and mobility — today with AI-native development on top, without ever trading away quality.

What I do

Mobile products, built AI-native.

Mobile engineering is the foundation: architecture, hands-on development and a decade of shipping apps in regulated, high-scale environments. AI is the multiplier on top of it — which is why one senior architect can now deliver what used to need a small team.

I build apps.

Mobile Product Engineering

Architecture and hands-on development for Android, iOS and cross-platform products — greenfield builds as well as apps that have outgrown their architecture.

  • Mobile architecture & technical strategy
  • Full app development, concept to release
  • Modernization of existing applications

I build AI into apps.

AI Product Engineering

Large language models and agents turned into reliable product features — inside real, shipping software, not demos.

  • LLM-powered features
  • RAG & knowledge systems
  • Evaluation & guardrails

I build the systems that build apps.

Agentic Delivery

For teams that want their own pipeline: agent systems that carry work from specification through implementation, review and QA. A separate engagement, not part of every project.

  • End-to-end feature & product delivery
  • Automated review, tests & guardrails
  • Wired into your CI/CD, stack & conventions

Selected work

Mobile products at real scale.

Startups, scale-ups, agencies and enterprises across healthcare, fintech, mobility and consumer apps — many of them serving millions of users under hard deadlines and strict regulation.

Case highlights

Healthcare · 5M+ users

A Kotlin Multiplatform auth SDK for 5M+ users

Built a Gematik- and OWASP-compliant KMP/CMP authentication SDK from scratch for BARMER & AOK — shipped to production in 3 months under a hard regulatory deadline.

Consumer · 300k+ users

From an 85% crash rate to a scalable mobile product

As Co-Founder & CTO at recoupling — known from “Die Höhle der Löwen” — I rebuilt the Android architecture from an 85% crash rate into a stable, scalable product, helping secure new funding.

Fintech · PSD2

Modernizing a banking app in daily production use

For Star Finanz I led the StarMoney XML → Jetpack Compose migration and implemented SEPA Instant Payments under strict German banking regulation — without disrupting daily banking users.

How I work

How a mobile project runs with me.

Most engagements look like this — whether it is a new app, a rescue, or a modernization. Straightforward senior engineering, with AI where it genuinely helps.

  1. 01

    Understand

The product goal and the constraints: users, platforms, regulation, timeline. If an app already exists, an honest review of its architecture and technical debt.

  2. 02

    Architect

The decisions that are expensive to reverse later — native or cross-platform, module boundaries, state and data layer, release strategy. This part is mine, not an agent’s.

  3. 03

    Build

Hands-on implementation in your codebase and your conventions. AI agents make this step significantly faster — under my architecture and my review.

  4. 04

    Ship & hand over

Tests, code review, store and regulatory requirements, release. Your team gets a codebase they can keep building on — not a black box.

AI changes how fast steps 3 and 4 go. It does not change who is accountable for step 2.

A separate offering

Autonomous delivery pipelines, built for your team.

This is a distinct service — not the way every mobile project runs. For teams that want it, I build the agent systems that carry a ticket from specification to a production release inside their own codebase, with the same quality gates a senior engineer would set by hand.

Human in the Loop

The agents do the heavy lifting — but every plan and release passes through your team. Nothing ships without review and sign-off.

  1. Define

You set the goal: requirements, constraints and acceptance criteria.

  2. Plan

The agent breaks the work into tasks and proposes an approach for your team to approve.

  3. Build

It writes the code across your codebase, following your conventions.

  4. Verify

Tests, review agents and guardrails run on every change — failures loop straight back to Build.

  5. Ship

Once checks pass and you approve, the change goes to production.

AI Software Builder

From a single message to shipped software.

Complete AI software builders that run a whole delivery flow: you send a feature request to a bot — on Telegram, for example. One agent breaks it into GitHub issues, the next implements them, another reviews the code, and the finished result comes back to you for approval. No large dev budget, no months of waiting.

What that means for you

Faster delivery

From request to review in hours — not multi-week sprints.

Built-in quality

Every change is tested and reviewed before it ever reaches you.

A fraction of the cost

Agents work around the clock — without a full dev team’s budget.

No budget bottleneck

Ship apps that used to demand heavy funding and months of work.

Two different things: mobile products I build for you — and delivery systems that build software for your team.

About me

Hi, I’m Matthias.

Mobile Software Architect & AI-Native Engineer

A software engineer with 15 years in tech and over a decade specialising in mobile — native Android, Kotlin, Kotlin Multiplatform and Flutter — for products used by millions.

Most of that happened in some of Germany’s most demanding, regulated environments — healthcare and fintech — for clients like BARMER, AOK, Deutsche Bahn, Die Techniker and Star Finanz. I also co-founded recoupling, an app with 300,000+ users known from the TV show “Die Höhle der Löwen”, where I’m CTO.

Over the last years I rebuilt my own engineering process around AI agents and agentic delivery. Not as a replacement for architecture and review, but as a multiplier on top of them — held to the same quality and security standards I learned building mission-critical apps.
